Best college sports program in the past 10 years? Best Answer goes to poster who?

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

can provide a link to documentation. Cheerleaders need not waste their time.

ALL SPORTS.
Ok modern. We’re NOT talking best of all time. I think I made that pretty clear.

Texas, followed by Florida.

Texas has national titles in baseball and football, as well as several deep tourney runs in hoops. They have one of the top baseball programs in the US if not the top.
They have a top 5 football program.
They have a top 10 basketball program as well, that is only getting better.
No school matches up as well in the big 3 sports.
They have championship caliber golf, tennis, and swimming as well.

Their women’s hoops teams are usually tourney bound as well.

Also, Texas has come the closest of any university to the "trifecta" — national titles in baseball, football, and basketball in the same year. They fell a couple of basketball games short.

Is it true that most college sports programs are not profitable, or in other words are not self-sustaining?

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

I’m nearly $100,000 in debt from going to college, and I shudder to think some of that debt was for tuition that went toward a sports program instead of my education.

It depends on what you mean by profitable. While the bottom dollar may usually mean that the athletic programs do not make money, schools see athletics as more than worth the price when it comes to recruiting students and marketing the college name. My last college president (I’m an administrator) always said that for every football player, he brought at least one buddy and a girlfriend with him. That increase in enrollment is what makes athletic programs worthwhile to colleges.

Why are there no player names in college sports video games?

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Why do all college athletics games feature players without their actual names, but instead numbers or made up names?

its illegal to use their names on video games. it has to do with them not being paid and stuff like that. professionals are under contracts and are i guess like a product of their particular team sort of. college players are more like high school players in that they are individuals with individual rights. they are playing for teams but are not contracted to them. its sort of confusing but all in all its illegal. like an invasion of privacy…

Is there an age limit for college sports?

Monday, June 7th, 2010

I’m 27 and entering college soon (a little late I know). Would I be eligible to play baseball there?

They only go by how mcuh college you’ve had. How many years of college have you completed already? For example, if you’ve completed two years of college, you’ve still got two years of sports eligibility left. If you’re just starting, you’ve got four. Age doesn’t matter, just skill.

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

I am considering walking on at either a D1 or D2 college to play basketball. If I am simply going to walk on and am not trying to get a scholarship, my academics will carry me through in that aspect. Do I still have to be cleared by the NCAA?

Yes and you need to get start now if you want to play in NCAA college
