should it be mandatory for coaches of youth sports teams be certified in first aid and Cpr?

Friday, May 14th, 2010

especially in sports like football, baseball, etc?

No. I have coached youth sports, I also carry a CPR card, but do not make it mandatory. A good solution is to have the club bylaws suggest it to all coaches. Then the club can put on the course. The coaches are in short supply and to make it a requirment will just increase the shortage.

What is a range of negotiable percentages for kickbacks for youth team sports photos?

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

I will be taking the team and individual photos for a youth indoor football league this summer. There will be approximately 500 kids. This league is a club league and is not associated with the schools. I have worked with these guys in the past doing informal work and they have verbally committed to me that I am their photographer. I have a meeting with the administrators this week and will be negotiating a kickback percentage for the league. What is standard? Whats the max? I was going to offer 7.5%.

If 7.5 is good for you, that’s what it is. If they want more raise your rates.

Is winning in youth sports important?

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

Is winning in youth sports important, for example little league or middle school?

I don’t think so. Having fun is way more important than winning. Kids will have their whole adult lives to be focused and serious. Why hurry that along?
